Has anyone else experienced this when booking a room online? After I input all credit card into and submit my info, the web page comes back and says unavailable service, the transact will not be ended, and at that point my credit card info has disappeared (all other data remains). Does anyone know if I am at risk for my credit card info floating around somewhere unprotected? I also tried another hotel in another city and it auto populated a travel agent ID# in a promo code area and I could not delete it. When I tried to submit my request with all of my credit card info typed in, the page came back and said the IATA# (travel agent#) was invalid. Again, all of my credit card info is then gone. This 2nd time it was for Best Western in Colmar. Am I just having a bad web day?
Thanks.
Time to ring the banking facility which provides your card.
Hi Pat,
I ended up emailing the first hotel to explain my problem. This morning they emailed back and said I was confirmed. So even though it said it did not go through, it really did. My same credit card has worked in Europe for over 10 years so I was pretty sure it was not the problem. I will just chalk it up to a bad online day. Best Western does not have an email to reach them because they are a chain hotel so I will try booking again today.
Hi Teri, I had a similar experience booking an airfare on line last year. It back back that it did not go though. I called the airlines because I didn't want to put it though a second time and the airlines told me it did go through and I was confirmed. I was glad I didn't try to put it in a second time. I might of have 2 sets of tickets for the same flight.
Hi Marie,
I kept trying the site so the hotel probably got a good laugh at the crazy American. Oh well, at least I got the reservation. All in all I have not had too much trouble with hotel bookings (just maybe disappointments if I did not get them booked before they were full). Thanks for your input.
Call the card company and make sure the charge didn't already go through. I was trying to book a res on Virgin Trains in the UK and inputed my boss card # - would work - I tried about 12 times and then I started trying my own card #. The site kept bumping me off, not giving a confirmation # - I was going nuts. Finally AmEx called us because there were 12 charges for the same ticket being billed through --- ARGHHH.
I just had to laugh as I am also thinking I must have several room charges for the same booking (and no less, with 2 hotels and 2 different credit cards to boot!).
I have called on both cards and to date there is not a charge at all - must be a delay. I think I am okay now though but I will keep checking to be sure. I think the problem with Best Western is that they want you to create a member ID first even though they say it is not mandatory. Once I created one, then tried to book the room, it worked out perfectly. I feel silly saying I am staying at a Best Western in France but for this small town it had what we needed for 2 nights. Whew! I am almost done booking hotels. I need one night in Zurich before flying home - does anyone know if we can wing it or does a hotel need to be booked in Zurich?
Thanks all.
