Canadians,, anyone use BCAA insurance

Hi phoned a few places for extra medical insurance( I always get it,but haven't paid much attention to what I am getting for how much before now). BCAA offers what appears to be best deal, up to 10,000, 000 coverage, no deductible, and covers evac,, all for only 61 dollars for a 26 day policy for an adult between 45-65.
I seem to recall paying quite a bit more last time, but don't remember who I used, wasn't BCAA is all I recall. Has anyone from BC used the BCAA plan before? Any comments.

pat, I've been using BCAA for travel medical insurance for several years, and so far I've got no complaints. I've never made a claim, but not anticipating any problems if I do. For the past few years, I've been getting an annual multi-trip policy rather than a "per trip" policy as I wanted coverage in case I decide to go to the U.S. on short notice. Although it's an annual policy, the coverage only seems to be effective for 30-days at a time. In past years when I've travelled for up to two months, they had to add an endorsement for the time in excess of 30-days. I'll quite likely renew my policy again next year. Happy travels!

Living near the US border in Ontario I also keep a year-round policy. It's not too much more than a limited-time deal. If you have an insurance broker for other insurance, ask what they recommend.

Like Ken I have had the BCAA yearly medical insurance. Useful to cover any out of Province expenses that you may incur when traveling within Canada as well as for the occasional weekend trips to the USA. Friends swear by it and just pay a small additional premium to cover extra days if gone for more than 30 days. One friend had BCAA insurance and broke a leg while in the USA and the claim was taken care of directly with the hospital with no problems. But to answer your question, $61 sounds like a good deal for the amount of insurance and number of days. BCAA has been in the insurance business for a long time and I would anticipate no problems in the event of having to make a claim.
