Canada to join the EU?

I saw this interesting report from DW discussing about the possibility of Canada becoming an EU member state. While not impossible they say it's unlikely for now. I for one would welcome Canada with open arms, and if nothing else it's definitely a fun exercise to consider Canada becoming part of the EU. They would potentially be able to live and work in the EU visa free, who knows maybe Rick Steves will soon have a "Best of Canada" tour as part of his European tour offerings lol!

Here's the DW report: https://youtu.be/HJKe_m9CL-0?si=y599SypaOsRLSW-1

It would great if Canada joined the EU as a counter to a certain global power. In addition, Canada has a long European heritage.

Yes whenever I visit Canada it definitely feels a lot more "European" to me, but everyone is in a better mood :-)

Would King Charley get to go to EU shindigs as a Head of State? Can’t see that going down well in Brussels.

Personally, I would welcome it. We've always had close ties with Europe, we are an original member of Nato (and dont use threats of pulling out to bully our way), and have been expanding our economic ties with the EU in recent years. It's quite possible that in the future our oil and gas, and other natural resources will be exported to Europe and Asia rather than to that place south of our border. Which not inconceivably, we may need to close and defend for the first time since 1812

Canada seems in parts a little bit behind time - they still have East and West Berlin in Nova Scotia (see Google Maps). Joke of course. So much for the travel relevance.

btw: the German "Kanada" sounds very much like Bavarian "Koana do" (nobody there).

But hey, why not? I liked my stay there.
