I am trying to buy train tickets from Prague to Vienna and then from Vienna to Budapest at website tickets.oebb.at.
I selected route, date (in July, it is valid as it seems). I entered credit card (AmEx) and then got message saying "Payment was not Effected". I am in US.
Why is that? I tried the other website, https://www.cd.cz/eshop, but it seems the price is twice as much as tickets.oebb.at.
Please help.
It could be that AMEX is blocking the transaction. Many times, US based credit cards are declined for foreigh transactions. I would call AMEX and see if they blocked it. You can then have them allow the transaction. If that doesn't work, the may not accept AMEX, so you should try another card or PayPal.
Was the route available for purchase? Since the summer change over of train schedules occur in early June it is possible the schedule and therefore the tickets are not available. As mentioned see if the charge was present to AmEx. If it wasn't then you didn't get that far and I would think that the ticket was not available. I would also try a verified Visa card.
