I'm trying to obtain a camping carnet from inside the US for European travel. I camped throughout Europe 10 years ago. Then, most campgrounds required you to either show a camping carnet OR leave your passport with them until check out. Fortunately we had a carnet, as I didn't want to leave my passport.
We're planning another camping trip soon. But I can't find anyone who issues carnets to Americans. Are these no longer necessary? Is there somewhere I can get one?
