CAA members - any out there...questions

Just want to pick a few CAA member brains. Am thinking of joining up, as we have a trip to California planned, but am curious about discounts - on car rentals, hotels, attractions, travel services offered - maps and planning and such...worth it?

I am a long-time member. I always check their discounts before I book things. They're competitive but not usually the cheapest. I'm currently shopping for out of country medical Insurance and they're about second best on price so far. But for very good coverage. I also get one set of free passport photos per year per family member, also good for the photos for our International Drivers Permits. I feel I get good value overall from my membership, but not exceptional value. For a road trip to the U.S., i would definitely buy it for the maps and guides. They don't do personal triptiks for Europe; for that, ViaMichelin is better. Though having them change a flat tire for me at -20C this past winter made me very happy...

Nicole: You might get more response if you found a more appropriate forum. Steves' forum caters to European travel.
