On my return journey from Munich to Frankfurt with my wife on a Sunday where my returning flight is close to midnight, I have in mind to take a train from from Munich to Wurzburg where I can have lunch and a bit of a look around (residenz) before then going on to Frankfurt.
I have a few questions about this 1.) Can I use a bayern ticket to go from Munich to Wurzburg and then take a regional train from Wurzburg to Frankfurt ? 2.) Is this the most ecomonical train way to get to Frankfurt via Wurzburg? 3.) Can i assume that I can tickets easily and can get it on the day itself? Or should I get it the day before or earlier. Thanks for all advice

You can use the Bayern Ticket from Muncih to Würzburg, and then to Kahl am Main, the last stop in Bavaria. A local RMV ticket from Kahl to the airport is €7,30 pP. If you already have the ticket from Kahl, you can stay on the same train to Frankfurt Hbf. You can get the Bayern-Ticket anytime at Bahn stations at the automats. You can get them earlier, or on the day of travel, itself.
