Hi; Hard to believe my trip to France is mere days away! Is there any advantage to buying a prepaid (landline) phone card from an online vendor? I found some of the costs to be 2-5 cents a minute for calls from France to USA, but how do I know if it'll work? You don't get a physical card, but you do get an email with PIN number and other necessary info. Also, what about buying French postage stamps online; I found a place where I think that's exactly what you do, pay for it, then print 'em up. Merci! Carol Ann
I think it is easier to purchase those items when you get here. I can't imagine buying stamps online. How do you glue them to the postcards or envelopes? Do you have to bring your glue with you? What a pain. Phone cards are easy to buy too, with cheap overseas prices, that may be even less than 5 cents a minute. When you buy it though, have someone show you which number to use. Have had people use the wrong number on the back, and wondered why their card ran out so quick. There are often 2 numbers to use on the card, one is to use for in the country itself and one is for the US. Asking your hotel front desk to show you is wise. They are there to help you.
Carol Ann - buying phone cards and stamps is pretty easy in France - well Paris, anyway. There's a "tabac" (tobacco store) on every other corner. They should be able to help you with both items. Hope you have a great trip!
