Business trip to Romania and Turkey

Hi,

I live in India and I am Indian citizen.

I am planning a business trip to Romania and Turkey, the trip will involve considerable amount of driving in both countries. I am aware that both these countries accept an international driving permit for driving.

Will the International Driving Permit mention both the country names specifically ?? What if I include Turkey only in the permit, will this still be valid in Romania ??

As I understand they just need an official translation of my Indian driving license (which I will be carrying with me) into English. I also have an IDP issues by an un-official third party, not sure if this is any use.

The problem is that after getting the Turkish visa I will have only sufficient time to get the Romanian visa. I would not have enough time for the permit to be made, it takes at least 5 days for the permit to be made here in India. So before applying for the Romanian visa I will apply for the international driving permit.

It would hep matters if the authorities/rental companies are not insistent on the country names to be mentioned.

An IDP is not for specific countries, it is for all countries. It does not mention any countries.
You can get your IDP immediately, you don't have to wait for your visas. It is usually valid 12 months.

They can't insist as the format is specified by international treaty, and countries are not listed.

The important thing is not "accept", it is whether they "require" it, and that depends on which country issued your licence. I guess that is India because you say you live there, so I would guess those countries do require an IDP for holders of Indian licences..
