Bundle wrapping in an RS bag??..HOW??

Ok, so I've ordered my RS convertable and a set of packing cubes. I wanted to ask a specific packing question. I've seen sevearl recent posts about bundle wrapping but the posters didn't say what bag they were packing. Have any of you tried bundle wrapping in an RS bag? If so, how? I can't see laying the bundle on the bottom and using the compression straps. The back can't be sturdy enough to do that. Can you bundle wrap into a large cube? Is there another method available? I will be using my new bag for biz travel as well as leisure, and I need to be able to deal with business casual clothing and even an occasional suit. Can anyone who bundles into an RS help me out??

Thanks!!!!

I think what you are talking about is described best at www.onebag.com. In the method they describe, you lay your clothes out on the bed alternating collar top and bottom, put something in the middle like a packing cube, then fold your clothes around that and put the entire bundle into your suitcase.

I've been experimenting with it but am still not sold, before that I rolled my clothes tightly and put a rubber band around it. Loose stuff like socks and underwear go in a compression bag or zip lock with the air pushed out. I'm more concerned about a compact load than no wrinkles.

I dislike the bundling method. It may work well if going to one place and completely unpacking but it is impossible to take out one item without destroying the bundle. I think the packing envelope is far superior for what you want to do.

Thanks Brad, that's where I read about it. I understand the bundling, but he makes a real point about laying the bundle in the bag and using compression straps to hold it in place. He even points out that if the bundle moves it will ruin the effect. I think the RS bag will be too soft for that to work, that's why I was wondering if anyone had made it work? Maybe bundle into a large cube? I can use my new packing folders for dress shirts, but I don't know about a sport coat, or if I need a suit.....

I do think my new RS convertable will work for everything I do except maybe formal business trips...

Thanks Frank! Do you know, will a packing folder handle a suit? Or at least a dress jacket?

I have packed a sports coat in an EC packing envelope for my hubby and his suit in another one. He said they came out pretty well. It actually helped with the size of his load. He first tried to pack w/o the envelopes and told me he couldn't get everything to fit. I pulled out the envelopes and he ended up with space to spare.

Skip -- works perfect. I have packed everything from a tux, three piece suit to a sport coat and slacks. We do a fair amount of cruising so will take a tux and short coat. Things will come out slightly creased but never wrinkled and the creases will hang out in a couple of hours.

Frank, thank you once again! I've ordered an 18" EC folder. How do you fold the suit coat/jacket? I would think they would be too wide to fit the folder. Do you fold it in half left/right, then fold lengthways? Your secret, sir? ;)

My new RS bag is due in a few days, I can't wait! ;)
