Brussels, Lausanne, Budapest and Prague, Munich, Bacharach best itinerary

Going to Europe mid August for 1 1/2 months. Flying into Dusseldorf 8/19 and out of Frankfurt 10/1 due to flier miles. Any advice for Budapest or Prague such as budget hotels easy to get to from train station and best side trips?

Of course we don't know what "budget" means to you, but .... A good, reasonably priced hotel we used in 2009 is the Star Hotel (www.starhotel.hu) which is about 4-5 blocks from the train station. Besides being easy to get to from the train, its close to bus lines and walkable to restaurants. We enjoyed a day trip to Szentendre. More ideas can be found in the RS Budapest guidebook. Have a great trip!

Rosa, For lodgings in Prague, I'd suggest having a look at This Pension. It's located in a great area, only a few minutes walk from the Charles Bridge and other sights, and the staff are wonderful. The accommodations are somewhat "basic" (no T.V.), but very clean. You might find it helpful to pack along a copy of the Prague & the Czech Republic Guidebook, as it has lots of information on sightseeing there. The book is currently "on sale" in the Travel Store here for $12.55 or $8.99 for the Kindle edition. The book has information on the best means of transport from the station to the Pension mentioned above. There's also good information on side trips from Prague to Cesky Krumlov or other locations. Happy travels!
