British Airways Refund

I was provided with a voucher by BA in lieu of a deposit I paid for a flight and hotel package with the company that was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid. The voucher remained unused and I received an e-mail from BA this morning informing me that as it hadn't be used within the specified timeframe they would refund the money to my payment card.

BA are evidently being proactive in terms of refunding passengers with expired vouchers so if you have any due to expire then expect a refund without having to apply for one.

Thanks Carol, yes it was good news. It was a deposit for a trip to Barcelona with friends. An annual get together where six friends pay a small amount each month into an account and we fly somewhere within Europe for a long weekend and the money covers the flights, hotel, food and drink. So far we've spent weekends in Budapest, Tallin, Krakow, Warsaw, Sofia, Prague, Berlin, Munich and Salzburg. Looking at Lisbon for this year. The break due to Covid has meant that the account is looking very healthy so we are looking forward to a great weekend in Lisbon!

The European Union notified airlines that if they cancelled flights due to the Covid pandemic, they would have to repay the customers in full. Many airlines made it difficult to obtain that refund without having to jump thru hoops. They tried to pawn off vouchers that had to be used within one year of the cancelled flight--if customers would accept it.

I booked an American Airlines flight with an outside airline ticker marketer. The flight was cancelled by British Airways. The travel company did nothing to help us, and I finally had to provide written documentation to B/A to get the funds returned. Then the travel company didn't even know they had the $ sitting as a credit on their corporate Visa card. It took me 7 months to get repaid--and even then the travel company hit us up for $189 in "service fees." I'll never use Ovago Travel again.

You should reply to B/A's email and ask for repayment.

But they have repaid me.
