British Airways Going on Strike

I have read that British Airways is having some strike days in September. I am flying to Copenhagen in September but as I write this, my day for flying is still ok.

Other persons are posting that they have gotten notices that their flight has been cancelled due to the strike and they need to ask for a rebooking or a refund. However, some are saying that supposedly the notices were sent to them by mistake. Others are posting that it is a nightmare trying to get through to customer service to rebook or request a refund.

Anyone on this site yet affected?

Yes there were some cancellations sent out by mistake but anyone in that circumstance can see from manage my booking at ba.com that they are still extant.

My flight from LHR-JFK was cancelled on Sep. 9. I found out late Friday night. I was able to easily rebook online.

If you want to definitely make sure your flight was or was not canceled, log into your flight info on BA's "Manage My Bookings."

Thank you all for your responses.

It seems like the confusion continues because two persons tell me that the cancellations were sent by mistake and no strike is imminent. There is a link on one of the responses saying that.

But then someone posts that their flight was cancelled but they had no trouble rebooking which I am glad to hear. Perhaps that is a person who got cancelled by mistake and they went ahead and rebooked.

I really feel for all those passengers who got notices of cancellations and had to deal with rebooking only to find out that it was a big mistake to begin with.

I feel for British Airways who must have had their hands full. Perhaps they should have a press conference so as to quell any further rumors and straighten out the situation.

I wonder if there is an investigation to see how this happened.

Our two flights to Italy were canceled on 8 Sept and 9 Sept with no offer of help from BA since they were award flights. We got rebooked on American but had to downgrade our class of service.

To further clarify - We got an email saying the flights were cancelled and when I went to the "manage my booking" on the BA site both of those flights had disappeared from my booking. Only the return flights are still there. So definitely not an error in my case.

Flights have definitely been canceled. SOME people got erroneous emails however if they went to "Manage My Bookings" they would have seen if their flights were really cancelled.

I was not canceled by mistake. When the people who got bad emails tried to rebook the would be informed that their flight was operating.

Here is the latest information put out by British Airways:

Well, I have booked through American using my credit card. However, I am flying BA since there is some kind of partnership. I booked through American. I paid American but I was put on BA.

I have "manage your flight" on both websites and my flight is good (at least for now). If i get cancelled, I think that American can put me on other flights to get me to Copenhagen although it might be quite a trek.

I am not just going to Copenhagen. I am going to Copenhagen to take a cruise but I am giving myself four days in Copenhagen. I am flying on BA September 18th and not sailing until the 23rd.

This situation stinks.

I got the "your flight has been super duper cancelled" email for a SEA-LHR 2019-09-11 flight, and decided not to worry about it over the weekend. 24 hours later I got a "whoops, just kidding. Your flight is still a go." It all worked out!

For now the strike dates are a bit too far out to claim EU-mandated compensation in case of cancellation / delay, but anyone notified of a cancellation within 14 days of departure should make a claim. Last year's Air France strikes earned me 1,000 euros worth of vouchers (I had 2 Paris-Marseille round-trips cancelled!), which paid for most of a round trip flight to Mexico that summer.
