Brief South Britain Visit

First week in June, we’re going On a cruise from Southampton. We’re going to arrive in Heathrow three days before the cruise and like to visit sites preferably small towns to shit leaving any suggestions?

We’ve been to London before we’re looking for quaint towns or villages. Thank you.

Probably worth posting in the England forum. But how about Salisbury with a side trip to Stonehenge. Salisbury is compact and historical with a gorgeous cathedral.

Or Winchester, also compact and with another lovely cathedral. Both provide easy access to Southampton.

How about editing your question......you'll see why when you reread what you wrote.

Haha Frank. I assumed that to be a typo or fat finger moment and decided to ignore it!

I don’t know what “quaint” means but…

Winchester, Salisbury, Lyme Regis, Rye, Wells are all nice

Quaint just means old fashioned and charming. Anywhere with a massive Tesco and a McDonalds isn’t quaint. Not sure how many places there are in Southern England like this. Bridport is nice.

Yeah that’s what I mean. Is there anywhere that fits the brief?

Tisbury is meant to be nice and I don’t think it has a large supermarket.

Some nice suggestions. Also maybe Chichester? But in deciding, I would factor in getting there from Heathrow and then getting to Southampton.

Shaftesbury. Check it out on google and believe you shall find the qualities you seek. FYI: was there two weeks ago and absolutely loved it. We also visited Salisbury and Stonehenge, same trip trip, but had a far better experience in Shaftesbury.
