I would like to read some novels set in Austria and Switzerland. Any suggestions?

Hi Erin,
I read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein while I was in Pontresina, Switzerland and thought that it was a fun setting for reading the book!

Hi Erin,

I recently read and enjoyed the novel "The Painted Kiss" by Elizabeth Hickey. The central characters are the Jugendstil / art nouveau artist, Gustav Klimt, and his girlfriend / model Emilie Flöge.

Mary Stewart's Airs above the Ground. 19060's mystery. Actually, you might want to check out Helen MacInnes at the library for other cold war stories based Vienna and Salzburg. Speaking of the cold war LeCarre's Smiley books end with George Smiely in Switzerland. Kerr's Berlin Noir is partially in Germany and Vienna. Marie von Trapp did right a book before the movie. And for a trip down memory lane, why not Heidi!
