Booking Accommodation Online

Greetings,
has someone dealt successfully with Bookings.com concerning a so-called "no-show" situation that was out of control of the client (i.e. strikes relating to ability to travel to the rental property?) Assume No travel insurance. Thank you. Stuckinparis.

I use booking. com very frequently. I have canceled on the same day of arrival, after the time the hotel policies said I would be charged. I contacted the hotel directly by calling them, and they were kind enough not to charge me, even though according to their policies, they could have.
If you read the details on the fare rules each hotel differs on how they handle when the first night will be charged, some within a day or two, or rarely longer.
So my message here, it depends on the hotel, but in addition to being the courteous thing to inform in case of a no show, the hotel may choose not to charge, but you must contact them directly, either by the phone # which would be more efficient or through email, less efficient.

Sorry, but I would never travel without travel insurance. It doesn't help your current situation, but you might not fall into the same expensive mistake again. Good luck with your claim.

And we never have had travel insurance - so not sure what the proves. Now we view ourselves as self-insured as the premiums saved over the past 20 will more than cover any future loses.
