Bone Church in Rome

Has anyone visited or have any information about the "bone" church located in Rome. I was able to find information about catacombs (Capuchini) but it was my understanding that this was not a crypt but an actual church. Thanks in advance.

There is a church above or beside it. I can't remember exactly how it is connected - but the church is just that, a proper church (small) and then there is a side entrance to the crypt.

There is nothing particularly noteworthy about the church that I recall.

Unless there is another in Rome I am not aware of?

No I think that is probably the one. My daughter went on a class trip to Europe a few years ago and her teacher wanted to take them to this church but it was closed. Since he travels to Italy often I thought it might be an interesting place to visit.

It's the capuchin monks crypt under the church of Santa Maria Della Concepcione on Via Veneto about a block or two from Piazza Barberini.

The “bone church” is actually the Cripta dei Cappuccini (Capuchin Crypt). It is located on the first landing as you climb the stairs to the church, Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini (Our Lady of the Conception of the Capuchin). The church is at Via Veneto, 27 which is about 150 feet from Piazza Barberini. The crypt is open from 9.00-12.00 /15.00-18.00 . For more info, call Tel +39 (06) 487 1185. You can see plenty of pictures if you Google: church of the immaculate conception, Rome.

We went to this crypt this June. My 18 and 23 year old sons loved it but were disappointed that picture taking is not permitted. They are VERY strict about proper clothing and showing respect for the departed by being quiet and refraining from taking pictures. We saw several groups turned away.A small donation is requested.Amazing place.

The only thing I can add is to watch the hours. When we went it was closed in the middle of the day (open in the morning and afternoon). We came back later and had to wait in a fairly long line to get in. It's not creepy or eerie but there is no shortage of bones in the place.
