I just received my boarding pass from Lufthansa and my middle name is not included in the boarding pass so it does not match my passport. Will this be a problem? I’ve been trying to get Lufthansa to change it, and they said it would, but I have not heard back from them in several hours.
My middle name rarely appears on my boarding pass. Because my first name is 9 letters long, all of that doesn't always fit. Your first and last name do match your passport. It won't be a problem.
Did you put your middle name in when you bought your tickets? My husband has a longer first name and every boarding pass he gets never has his full first and middle name printed on the boarding pass and it always varies depending on the airline so I wouldn't worry about it if you input it correctly when you purchased.
If you have your boarding pass, you are flying within the next 24 hours, so all you can do is ask at the ticketing desk, who will probably say, "oh that's just how our computer system is." As long as your first and last are accurate, you should be fine. But, it's frustrating.
Oh, and I just remembered, that I was told by KLM or other international airline, that they don't even recognize middle names, so it also could be just an international airline thing.
Don't worry about it.
I've lost count how many times I've flown with a boarding pass that only has my first and last name. It rarely has my middle name even though my passport does.
I've had two international flghts in Europe in the last two days. I had to show my passport at each. My boarding pass on both did not have my middle name. It was not an issue.
Another traveler here who rarely has middle name on boarding pass. I do enter full name when purchasing ticket and for passport information. I think AA told me that middle names aren’t printed on boarding pass even though they’re in their system, you don’t even really need them because they (airlines? Border controls?) are “only” checking that given (first) and surname (last) match (because middle names not used in some other cultures). With that said, if it’s on your passport (or other ID you’re going to use) then enter it. Have a great trip!
In many countries, middle names are not customary. Sometimes, my first and middle names are printed together as one word. Other time not.
Most of my international flights only have first and last name, sometimes just a middle initial but rarely. It has never been an issue.
My passport has my middle name, but I quite frequently book tickets with just first and last name. As long as those match, it's fine.
