Beware of buying luggage

I decided to purchase 2 of Rick Steves rolling backpack luggage, one in Plum and one in Camel. they both came in. And when i stood them up, the Camel one stood up and the plum one fell over. I wondered why. it appears some stabilizers that were on the Camel bag were missing on the plum Colored bag. So i contacted the company about the problem seeking to return it. At first they said you do not need to return it, just send us pictures. so i sent pictures of the two bags, showing the difference.

I was promptly told it was not defeat in construction but and i quote from their email "However, this is not a defect. It is simply from a different batch from the manufacturer, with a slightly different design feature. I’m sorry to say, but if you would like to return this, please feel free to do so, but you will need to pay return shipping on the item." thus although I contend it goes to function, one bag will stand one does not, it does raise the question, that there is a specification problem. So the bag you think you are getting may not be what you get. Plus when you return it, whether it is defective or not, you pay the shipping.

The Rick Steves books are great, the luggage leaves a lot to be desired.

That's sounds like a poor response from the sellers. There is nothing in the online ad for the product which shows it will fall down, and there is certainly nothing in the ad which mentions anything different between the colours except the COLOURS.

I think that RS may have goofed here.

They might want to rethink their answer. Maybe you need to speak to somebody higher up.

I sincerely hope so. I hope takavulla has some good news to share with us soon.

It has been pretty widely reported here that the Rolling Backpack does fall over :-( I've never tried to rig mine up in some way in order to prevent this, but I'm hopeful I can come up with something. Someday. I just wonder what happened with the Quality Control on this product...mine is 2 1/2 years old...and they're still falling over?!?
