We are going to France in the fall with our then 20 month old twins. Any suggestions for good travel strollers? I don't want a double stroller because it will be too wide for some of the places we want to visit. Is it worth it to pay extra for one that reclines?
Thanks!
We didn't bring a stroller for our two year old but brought her hiking backpack instead (OUCH- My back!) If bringing a stroller, an umbrella stroller would have been best due to the size and if it gets wrecked in the plane, you aren't out that much.
We just took our 14 month old to Prague and London in October and found that our Maclaren Triumph worked great. It is lightweight (11 pounds) and folds up pretty small with a shoulder strap making it easy to carry when you're going up and down steps, etc. Also, it is sturdier than a regular umbrella stroller, but because it folds so small most airlines will let you keep it in the overhead bin instead of gate checking it.
When our kids were little our travel stroller was a simple umbrella stroller. It worked fine, didn't weigh much and folded down to take up very little space. If you encounter stairs, they are also easy to pick up - one person holds the handles while the other grabs the foot strap. We could sling our daypack over the handles to carry extras.
We didn't take them on big trips until they were five or six and had a little more stamina.
I second the one about Maclaren Triumph. We bought one for our trip to Italy last Oct. and it is lightweight, easy to use, and maneuvers very well on unpaved streets. I found a brand new one on Ebay for $75 (shipping included).
