I am going to England and France. Not that that matters, but what travel apps can you not live without? So far, I have a currency converter and that's about it.
Thanks!

I like Trip Advisor City Guide. You can download info for each city and access it off-line. The downside is that it only has major cities like London and Paris. It also has information on restaurants, sights and suggested itineraries. Also, Rome2Rio is excellent for figuring out how to get between cities.
If you want to do a blog (either for yourself or to share with friends) - Travelpod or WordPress (I use travelpod more)
For offline city maps - CityMaps2Go (you only need to connect to wifi when you arrive in the city, then it will pinpoint you, and you can use it offline and it will show you where you are - I like it because I can pin places I want to see and places I want to eat and if I am going to do a particular neighbourhood, I can make sure I don't miss anything.
Google Earth
For a packing list (well, I know, paper works too) - Packing Pro
It is always nice to have a 'white noise' app in case you are in a noisy accom and are trying to sleep (was great in Rome to cover street noise)...there are many out there - I downloaded one called Sleep Pillow
For translation (written word - say on a menu or sign) - Word Lens
Trip Advisor City Guides can come in handy. You may want to check out tripwolf as well.
If you want to keep track of your spending, a budget one is nice (mine is just called 'spending' - I guess that's the name). I also have my banking and credit card apps on the iPad in case I need to check something out.
For entertainment on planes/trains/in hotel - podcast is cool (there is a Rick Steves Podcast! This is one that comes with your iPad). I subscribe to Next Issue for all my magazine reading. If you get a local newspaper, they may have a presence - mine is in the newsstand - so I can keep up with what is happening at home. I use Overdrive to download ebooks and audiobooks from my local libraries.
A few great non-travel apps - Appsgonefree and AppoftheDay - a lot of the apps I had were paid ones that come up occasionally for free (City Maps, a great list one called 2Do - where I make note of all my pre- and during trip things I need/want to do)
On my last trip I was just in London and Cambridge and so added some Apps that were specific to the city. I just searched the App Store using Edinburgh and came up with several including some walks, maps, a cab service and some guides and even one for Radio Scotland, which I may actually download! : )
I also have photo toaster on my iPad and I used it to do some quick editing each day on the photos I've taken. I

I also use CityMaps2Go. Wonderful app for the same reasons that have already been stated.

I like Tripit when planning my trip itinerary. The one I use was free - for a fee you can upload TripIt Pro and it will automatically sync all of your reservations into the itinerary, as well as, upload any updates/changes to the reservations. It is a very handy tool, especially when building the itinerary.
Happy travels.
Linda
The app for your airline. My Delta app has proved very useful over the years -- alerts, gate changes, easy check-in, and so on.
Speaking of airline apps, in the US I like Gate Guru. I've only used in the US, but it seems to have international airports as well.
For Paris, I really like the Paris Metro app by Presselite.
I found this great list, which mentions some that people have already commented with.
I just want to mention - tripwolf has teamed up with Fodor's and they are offering a free premium guide today only (July 3). You can get basic guides for free, then pay for upgraded premium guides if you want them. Every few months, they seem to make a free premium guide available. They also mentioned adding offline routing (not sure what that is all about - I'll have to check into it more) and I think they do offline maps a la CityMaps2Go...but a great chance to get a city or country guide
Nicole, thanks for the heads up - I downloaded one of the Tripwolf premium guides for free! Looks pretty good.
Glad to hear that Donna - I downloaded the England guide. Sometimes they will have certain ones offered free. Ex - Dublin was free back on St Patrick's Day and Munich was free one time when Oktoberfest started.
I am a bit ashamed to admit I have downloaded other guides (when they have the free premium ones) but I tend to forget about them...we are leaving soon for NYC and I think I only looked at my NY guide a few times... :)
