Best towns to visit in Sicily, only have 3 days!

Just passing by in August. Will be flying into Palermo and would love some recommendations on a nice place to base ourselves and what we could see in 3 days. Then flying from Palermo to Malta.

Many thanks

I would stay and see Palermo itself, and leave one day open to go to Monreale which is easy to get to by bus. Three days (are they three full days?) doesn't leave much time for anything else, and there's plenty to do in Palermo itself. Just prepare for extreme heat, especially in Malta. The heat will definitely slow you down even if you're super fit, so take that into account.

I agree with Agnes. If you have "3 days," is that two nights, three nights, or four nights? Unless it's four nights (three full days), you only have time for Palermo and Monreale. If you have more time, Cefalu is supposed to be very nice (I didn't get there) and isn't too far. Many other places in Sicily will be too far to see from Palermo in a short time.

Palermo is very interesting, with a scruffier older section (with the fascinating markets and churches), a glamour section (Prada, Gucci, etc), and a nice area in between those two (where I stayed). Don't believe the bad hype, which makes Palermo sound like Naples on crack. I found it to be only slightly "rougher" than Rome, and not at all stressful.

For sure Palermo, lots to see there and nrby. Do not miss castle and museum. Try caponata, it is delicious.

Palermo is worth at least one day. Monreale is incredible. (And there's a really nice pizza place there.)

There's so much more to see, but those would be my top two recommendations with only three days and flying in/out of Palermo.
