Just wondering if there is a good snorkeling spot in Europe where wet suits would not be needed? I understand even the water off Greece is not warm enough. We want to take another trip in Europe but also are considering a warm water trip....could we do both in Europe?
Well it was years ago, but can't imagine the water temp has gotten colder, but I definately found the water off the Ctyclades islands in Greece warm enough to snorkle in ,, in September anyways. We snorkled off Paros in september with no problem( mind you there isn't that much to see if you are used to other places). also, since where I am from water is very cold perhaps our tolerance is different. I wouldn't wear a wet suit there at all ... time of year would count too, June water isn't fully warmed up yet perhaps.
Well it depends on how warm water you're used to. I grew up swimming in NorCal so both the meditteranean and the altantic beaches in France and Spain I've been to seemed totally fine for swimming in the summer for me. They're not bath-tub warm but not wetsuit cold, either. I'm sure temperatures vary based on location, but since you don't go very deep when snorkeling I can't see a wetsuit being necessary. Do research into Turkey and Eastern European Black Sea locales, they're supposed to have some of the best beaches and snorkeling in Europe.
