best side of ship , heading north, baltic cruise

considering viking ocean ship- barcelona to stockholm

don't know how far out into oceans we will be(able to see land from ship?) and wondering which side to book cabin.
on our adriatic cruise = we were on port (ocean) side as we headed back to Rome but always ended up facing dock/town when we landed at the cruise port

Port is the left hand side of the ship and starboard is the right. When sailing from Barcelona to Stockholm the Continent will be on your right hand side. Once you enter the Baltic Sea it depends on the ports of call there. However, since the Baltic Sea is rather shallow most vessels will have to sail in the middle of the sea in which case there is no land view from either side. The sail into Stockholm is picturesque from both sides.

Looking at their route. It seems most of the land will be out the starboard side of the ship. I'd go with that.

Personally don't think it makes much difference unless you are reserving a balcony but even with a balcony you view is limited. From Barcelona to Stockholm land will be on your right, obviously, but far enough at sea that all you will see is a couple of islands from time to time. We never worry about which side of the ship because we spend so little time in the room that it is of no importance to us.
