Best places between London and Barcelona?

We are flying into London and flying out of Barcelona (the flight was actually cheaper than a RT). Two weeks in June, traveling with our 9 year old. Best places to go? We plan 3 days in Paris.
Thanks!

How much time are you spending in London and Barcelona? With only 2 weeks, you'd probably be best to divide up your time between the 3 cities and take some day trips if you find yourself running out of things to see, which I expect won't happen.

We actually have no idea how long we should stay in London and Barcelona... Best day trip from London? Paris? Plus I've been dreaming of beaches in the South of France...

Well, since we don't count arrival or departure day,, doesn't that add up to 12 days. Seems to me that 12 days is only enough time to enjoy three major cities.

Four days in London
Four days in Paris
Four days in Barcelona.

Remember 1/2 day will be used up travelling from London to Paris ( Eurostar is 2.5 hours, arriving at San Pancras station 45 minutes ahead, and then time to get to hotel in Paris)

And more then a 1/2 day will be spent travelling to Barcelona ( assuming you fly , try Vueling, its a good airline with decent one way prices if you book ahead, I have flown it one way to Rome) Using air will mean getting to airport( 35-60 minutes depending on which airport you fly out of , and how you get there, taxi, bus, RER) .Arriving for flight 1.5 to 2 hours ahead. Then same thing in Barcelona , getting to hotel.

So really, the more you travel , the less time you have to relax and enjoy. I do think three points are enough, especially with a child. And each of the cities you have chosen will have plenty to amuse for days on end,, plus there are some nice side trips you could take.

Don't forget jet lag may make first day or two tiring.

We just returned from London, Paris and Madrid. We spent 4 days & nights in London, took the Eurostar to Paris on day #5, and then spent 5 nights in Paris before our flight to Madrid where we spent 3 nights. It was the right mix for us, but you may prioritize differently. We took a day trip to Versailles from Paris. If we'd had more time in London, I would have taken a trip to Bath, but there's plenty to see and do otherwise. Not sure about Barcelona or the French beaches.

I'm not sure what you want to do on the beaches in the French Riveria, but Barcelona is right on the water as well and has plenty of beaches, as I understand it, I haven't been yet, not til next month :) So maybe you can get your beach "fix" in Barcelona.

I think there are a lot of great day trips from London, Paris, and Barcelona, off the top of my head from London you can do Stonehenge and Bath, and many others. From Paris you can do Versailles, Normandy (if you are into history and up for at least a 12 hour day) and I'm sure more. From Barcelona the possibilities are endless!

Thanks everyone for the comments! Very excited for this trip -- a sudden 15th anniversary surprise! I've got a lot of reading to do...
