Best Performance Shirts & Pants

What brands have proven to be the BEST for travel shirts and pants for you? (Especially pants) I'm looking for something that I can wash in the washbasin of my hostel, spray with some Fabreeze, and hang up overnight to dry...

Style is also a sort of consideration...also convenience is worth more. But at the very least, I'm hoping I can find basics in neutrals that I can match up.

:D
Thank you,
A.

Amber, there are 2 REI stores in Houston. If one isn't too far from you, go and take a look at what they have. You can find everything from ones that are ready for the trail to ones that look pretty fashionable. The most IMPORTANT thing is avoid cotton. It won't dry quickly, and usually wrinkles. Synthetics dry overnite without wrinkles, don't even need the Fabreeze.

BTW take a look at Rick's clothesline. It's the way to go, or you can make a similar one by buying the travel clothesline at REI and adding some velcro to the ends.

2nd the REI suggestion. They've got really good travel stuff, and over the years, the clothes they carry have gotten increasingly stylish (but still very functional).

Amber, i went on packinglight.net and got a really easy travel skirt by Ex Officio. It has a crinkled look so it doesn't matter if its wrinkled.

Also, here's a good tip. Instead of using Frebreeze, bring some scented dryer sheets. They not only take up less room than a bottle of frebreeze, you also avoid bringnig liquid. Put the sheets in a ziplock bag and crack the bag open a little bit. Put in the bottom of your suitcase and the scent will keep your clothes smelling fresh the whole trip.

You can bring body wash and double it as soap and light detergent.

Of the things my wife brings, the most consistently useful and versatile are microfiber capris. Hers are a light tan, you can get them in black, white (not suggested) and multiple shades of khaki and green.

Her best tops are made from model and rayon. Also look for tencil, bamboo and washable silk. They are either long tank variations or have covered shoulders to three-quarter sleeves. She wears them with capris in the day and with a black polyester skirt at night and adds a lightweight acrylic button up sweater for churches or cool evenings.

She packs a very lightweight dress and a pair of long pants. She hasn't found the perfect pants yet and always comes home wishing she had packed something else.

Chico's Chico's Chico's - Fantastic clothes, wad them up in your suitcase & get to your destination, just shake them out & put them on Voila! no wrinkles. Wash them in a bathroom sink, hang to dry & in a few hours you are ready to go. Kind of expensive but you can get good deals on ebay for them.

I've found super light weight pants that roll up into capris and snap at Old Navy. I hae some exofficio clothes as well, but they just aren't as stylish. My Old Navy pants are super light weight and have travelled all over the world and been washed in sinks the world over, as well.

I found some pants by Patagonia that roll up and button to make capris. One pair I bought at a Patagonia store, but the other I found at REI. They were very comfortable and nice looking, and were easy to wash out in the bathroom sink. I took several hangers that clip with me and just hung the pants to dry. By the next morning...voila!...dry pants. They don't wrinkle either. I also took inflatable hangers for my shirts. They were very handy.
