I am wanting to take my Perlina Messenger bag to Europe. It is a nice quality of leather and looks nice for both casual and dressy occassions. However, most of the posts talk about other bags...Do the locals still wear bags across their bodies? I don't want to shout out as a "tourist" too much!
Yes, the locals still wear bags across their bodies. It is easier on the back and is of course harder to steal. Messenger bags are really good, cause of the flap and if you get one that zips first, it is even better.
I don't think wearing a bag across your body will shout tourist. I suggest you consult the website below - Purseology - which has a lot of good information.

People here are so obsessed with not appearing to be a tourist in Europe. Believe me, they know you're a tourist (and they don't care).
I agree David.
Jackie, the most important rule regarding purses, etc., is to ensure that they are secure enough to prevent snatching or whatever device a would-be thief would use.
