My wife and I are traveling to Europe for a few weeks London, Amsterdam, Paris, and the south of France. A beautiful trip. I just sprung on her we should rearrange our flights and get an air bnb in a city for a week or two. We have the time we are looking for a good city, small coastal town, etc... Suggestions, please
Please clarify: Are you looking for a place in southern France? If so, are you more interested in the Riviera or Provence?
What time of year will you be making the trip?
What are you interested in--beaches, art museums, historical sites, gardens, scenic areas, something else?
Sorry,
we are staying in Provence for 5 days then nice for 2. We were looking for suggestions for a destination either spain, france, portugal italy, that has decent public transportation and plenty to do. We will be there in july and interested in all, museums, scenic, beaches etc..
I am confused. In your OP you say you are "traveling for a few weeks to London. Amsterdam, Paris and the south of France." Now you have added Spain, Italy and Portugal to the mix. Can you clarify for us, please? Will you go to one of the three other countries after you have been to Amsterdam. London and Paris, or instead of?
You're already covering a lot of ground, so I'd be inclined not to add another country. Lyon comes to mind but can be very hot in mid-summer. Normandy and/or Brittany would be a great choice weather-wise, but I wouldn't spend a week in any single place there. You could find enough side-trips to make a week in Bilbao or San Sebastian work, and the weather should be very pleasant in that area, but traveling to the Basque Country from southern France would be awkward, and again I'd prefer to split the week and stay in two different places.
