My wife and I will be taking the Bernina Express on July 05, 2018 from Tirano to St. Moritz and returning the same day to Tirano. It is my understanding that the train leaves Tirano at 10:03 and returns from St Moritz at 15:12. Those times will only allows to be in St Moritz about 3 hours. Is there a later alternative that we can take to return to Tirano so we can stay longer in St Moritz??? A different train.??? Bus???
There are direct trains every hour NOT named the Bernina Express that require no reservation fees.

I second what Sam says. This is a normal rail route, not just one for tourists. It, and all other rail routes in Switzerland have one train per hour. Look up times on the SBB website.
I just looked up the times from Tirano to St Moritz, and I can see the following:
Depart Tirano 07:41, arrive St Moritz 10:11
09:00 - 11:11
09:41 - 12:11
10:06 - 12:37
11:00 - 13:11
11:41 - 14:11
etc. etc. Plenty of choice. Same coming back.
Thanks to Sam and Chris.
