Hi all I have few questions on Bernese oberland- Interlaken - Murren. we will be coming in from Lucerne to Interlaken and Interlaken to Murren. We will be staying in Murren 4 nights. 1)i wanted to know which are the hikes from murren /wengen /grindelwald tat can be done with a stroller and 4 year old.
2)is it possible to get views from schilthorn , jungfrau ny 11am? 3)any link to the hikes possible / train or cable car stops? 4) any suggested itinerary- must see? we will be there first week of september. Many Thanks Regards
She, I can't answer your questions completely, but have a few comments...... 1.) You could probably do the "hikes" from Mürren to Gimmelwald (returning via Cable Car) and Allmend-Hubel back to Mürren with a Stroller, as they're mostly paved. 2.) That's normally possible, but depends to a large extent on the weather. The Schilthorn is a better bet for views even when the weather is a bit dismal. 3.) Check the websites for the places you'll be visiting. I'd also recommend using the Switzerland Guidebook. If you can't find it in local book stores, you can download the E-book version in several formats (ie: Kindle, which can be viewed on an iPhone, iPod Touch or PC). Train or Cable Car stops will vary depending on where you want to go. 4.) It's difficult to suggest "must sees" without more information. What prompted this desire to visit the Berner Oberland? What do you hope to see there? Happy travels!
She, there is a very nice paved road from middle of Muerren down to Gimmelwald. It's all downhill so that should work well with the stroller. As for hikes, here's a link to a list of hikes in the Bernese Oberland. I can't comment on how well these hikes will work with a stroller. http://www.myswissalps.com/berneseoberland/berneseoberland-hiking.asp?lang=EN
The hike in the valley between Lauterbrunnen and the cable car up to Gimmewald would be good with a stroller. It is mostly flat and takes about an hour. From Murren, hike downhill to Gimmewald, then cable car down to the valley and hike to Lauterbrunnen.
many thanks for your kind replies...
