We are traveling to Norway in August. It is a free form trip with very few reservations. We will be getting into Bergen on the express ferry from Balestrand around 9pm on Aug. 16 should we have reservations set up prior to leaving? Or can we just to to the TI and have them help us that late in the day?
The TI office closes at 10pm in August. So you will be cutting it very close. I would make reservations.
Getting in that late, I would have something set up ahead of time. We returned Sunday from Scandinavia. Stayed 2 nights at Skiven Guesthouse in Bergen. Great place. A bit of an uphill walk, but otherwise, so close to everything, economical, clean, quiet, overall nice place.
In Bergen, a few years ago, we stayed at the SAS Radisson, right around the corner from the row of quaint houses/shops on the north side of the harbor. Nice enough. Convenient but quiet. Right near St. Mary's Church - 850 years old. Are you doing Norway in a Nutshell? Great inexpensive trip. We stopped overnight in Gudvangen...in a "hut" with reindeer skin bed throws and a window in the roof to look at the mountains and waterfalls.
