My husband and I are traveling to Rome, Sienna and Paris next month. I have a California placard. someone told me that you can get into attractions without waiting in line. Is that true? Should I still book tours online (Eiffel Tower, Sistene Chapel, Versailles, etc?
Never heard of it. Some have tried to use it for handicap parking. But that doesn't work either and they have the ticket to prove it.
Like Frank I have never heard of it. However, if you have an obvious handicap, i.e., if you use a cane, crutches or a wheelchair, it is highly likely you will either be invited to the head of the queue or put in a separate queue for the "halt and lame". Flashing a "handicap placard" will probably not be useful and may be a detriment.
I just got back from Europe and I traveled with my 85 year old mother who uses a cane. Definitely bring the placard. We waited in several lines that if we would have had one, would have gotten right in. They said they would not permit us to enter the handicap line without it. It won't had extra bulk to you luggage and will come in handy. Also make as many reservation/ticket purchases in advance as possible. Anything to avoid the lines
Thank you so much for all your responses. I will bring it, and make my reservations ahead of time. If they don't let us in, oh well, at least we tried. This is a great forum!
