Need help and ideas for the following trip please. I would like to fly into Belgium and stay close to train station but close enough to the Christmas markets. (Walking distance as I will be traveling alone.) maybe a couple to three days in Brussels then catch the train to Luxembourg for a couple days. Haven’t gotten far enough to check if Luxembourg has Christmas markets. Then catch the train to Zurich and stay there a week. I’ve never been to Europe during Christmas and want to experience this before I’m no longer able to travel. Any suggestions for hotels, what and where to go? I am familiar with Zurich and can get around in Switzerland. Thank you all for your suggestions and recommendations.
In Brussels, stay near Brussel Central Station, which is walking distance of the Grand Place, and I assume there would be a Christmas market there or close by.
On the way to Zurich, you should stop at Strasbourg (its on the way) for the fabulous Christmas Markets they have there.
Oh, do visit the Strasbourg and Colmar Xmas markets, which are some of the most incredible markets I have ever had the pleasure to experience.
The Zurich main train station has the largest indoor Xmas market in Europe. I liked the markets in Bern, but the other Swiss markets I have visited are somewhat smaller in scope.
If possible, after the Strasbourg markets, go on to Stuttgart and Esslingen, Germany. I'll attach my 2019 Trip Report, during which I had a magical experience!
Safe travels!
zurich city also has Christmas markets in the town. The train station is wonderful too. It is a beautiful time to visit, enjoy.
