Be cautious with Uniworld Cruises!

Just a precaution to fellow travelers -- pricing is tricky! Family talked us into a Uniworld Boutique River Cruise (eastern Danube) as a couple had enjoyed one previously. By phone, the Uniworld agent discussed $800 in discount for referrals & repeat travelers. Could only hold booking at special price for 24 hrs, but not to worry as discounts could be applied later. Turns out discounts were halved for the special fare sale. Losing $400 in discounts won't kill us, but their lack of customer service afterwards has been nothing less than stunning. They don't return calls as promised, are quite cavalier about the price change, can take 30 days to process refunds (yeah, but we get 24 hrs to pay!). Ouch! Really bad start with Uniworld!

We have never heard anything but raves about Uniworld from friends who traveled with them. I hope your experience with them improves!

One reason why I have a TA who handles my cruises. He takes care of any hassles for me, or helps avoid them in the first place.

Thanks CJean; that's the irony, as we did use a TA. Our initial contact was with Uniworld, but within the 24 hr window we asked a TA to assist, as she'd helped us previously. They answered her no better.

I'm impressed that Uniworld offered any additional discounts during a special fare sale. Most businesses offer one or the other.
