I would love some advice/suggestions. Travelling to Europe next summer with my wife and 7 year old daughter. Will be arriving from Ireland, and have about 15 days to spend in Europe. Was thinking about having 3 bases of +/- 5 days each. Any thoughts on where to stay in order to make the most of our time. Would love to do day trips to surrounding cities/countries. Thank you.
I think 3 destinations (plus day trips) in 15 days is a good plan. 5-5-5 sounds good in the abstract, but you should really read some guidebooks and put together some 1-day itineraries for each. This will help you to compare the value, in terms of your own personal travel thrills, of an extra day here or there. You may discover that Paris (if you go there) is worth 6 days and that the fifth day in Amsterdam is the most expendable. You may also like the idea of renting an apartment in, for instance, Provence and taking many day trips. Since such rentals are typically for seven-day minimums (but not always), that may influence you to stay longer. As for where to visit, you offer few clues about your family's interests. What's a good time for you all? What are your priorities?
