Planning a trip for October/November to Barcelona and Naples. Should we visit Naples/Sorrento first and then Barcelona or Barcelona first, then Naples? Also, planning on spending 6-7 days in each city. Is that too long?
Hi Camille - Barcelona is one of the most exciting cities in Europe - 6 days - OK!! Naples - NO!! A very dangerous mafiosa city - Hate to say it BUt I'm Italian, The Amalfi coast - Yes!! Amalfi, Sorrento, and Positano - 6 days - Yes!
Which order you do them in doesn't really matter unless you're going other places.
Ciao, Greg
Our base is going to be Sorrento. However, I must visit Naples (heritage and all that.) Will also visit Pompeii, etc. I was just wondering if 6-7 days is too long and should I try to fit in a few days in Rome (been there before.)
I could move to Sorrento and amalifi coast and capri and be very happy. to me 5 days is minimum, stay 6 and have a great time. Naples, visit for museum and of cousre your family related.
Glad to hear you are staying in Sorrento, but Naples is definitely worth a day trip. After spending a day in Pompeii you will want to visit the archeological museum in Naples.
I think I'd be inclined to go to Naples first. It's a grittier place than Barcelona, and you might find it disappointing after the charm of Barcelona. Incidentally, I don't think you should be fearful of the mafia in Naples. They aren't involved in street crime against tourists. There is a greater risk of street crime in Naples than most other places in Europe, but paying attention to your surroundings, avoiding being obviously lost or intoxicated in public, and you should be fine.
One day to visit the Museum in Naples in my opinion is enough time in Naples. Wouldn't even stay there overnight.
