Thanks for the previous help w/ getting to and from airport from cruise line.
Now, my next question is that we are staying an extra night in Barcelona upon return because it saved a ton on airfare to wait a day. \Any suggestions on reasonable rated hotels that are in a safe area and not far from airport?
A lot of reading we've been doing re: Barcelona doesn't paint a very pretty picture as far as safety and being ripped off (pick-pockets and cabbies)
PS-by reasonable, I mean under $75/night
Thanks!
There is another query about Barcelona hotels on 7/27 with a couple of answers already. The airport bus to/from Barcelona is about 4 Eu. I stayed at Hotel Lloret for about 50 Eu/night in a single room ensuite. It is at the top of Las Ramblas very near Placa Catalunya and the airport bus stop. Metro and tourist buses are nearby. I had no problems with pickpockets as I always use a money belt and don't carry anything that looks valuable.
We were in Barcelona in May and had no problem at all regarding pickpocketers. I fully expected the worse walking Las Ramblas but found it to be a nice place to walk with interesting vendors along the sides. The Boqueria Market is a must see and the fresh fruit sold there makes a perfect snack. We took a crowded bus out to Parc Guell and again, no incidents with thievery. We used a taxi once and the cost was reasonable and the driver courteous.
