Can anyone tell me about this town? Is it nice to visit? Interesting, scenic, historic? Thanks.

Hi Cecily,
I have family and friends from Ballina and, to be truthful, it's not a terribly exciting town. It's a somewhat attractive workaday Irish town, with a lovely castle accommodation on its outskirts (Belleek Castle). From Ballina, you could head up to Sligo our out towards the Mullet Peninsula, both worthwhile trips. There are also a few old deserted abbeys outside of town (Rosserk and Moyne). For the town itself, however, you might not find it terribly exciting.
