I am at home waiting for the Azerbaijan GP to start and I am wondering if any of you have been to Baku and if so what is it like?

The Azeri government does their best to make the place considered as Europe, including organizing the GP.
Baku is a large but quiet place on the shore of the Caspian sea. The old city is interesting and much more calm than any similar place in Islamic countries; the modern, soviet-like city, not so interesting. Every now and then, big posters of the country president.

It does look like quite a pleasant place maybe worth a few days of my time at some point in the future. It is borderline Europe i suspect for political reasons much like Israel is part of UEFA
