I have been to Europe many times, but always with carry on baggage - only. Going skiing in Murren this year, requires some checked equipment, a single bag. I am flying Delta Metal to Schipol, then have 1 Hour and 45 minute connection to KLM metal for flight onward to Zurich. I know I will go through passport control at Schipol, Flying a single ticket (from Delta). Do I have to claim and recheck my baggage at Schipol and recheck, or will it be transfered on to Zurich without my touching it. Such a simple thing, but I can't seem to figure it out despite many searches. Thanks all.

On one ticket to Zurich with a connection in Amsterdam, the stuff you checked will go all the way to Zurich.
When you check in at the airport you will see on the bag tag and your claim check the airports ZRH for Zurich listed above AMS for Amsterdam
