Baby. December. Where to go?

My wife and I travel to Europe every year. Now we will have a 6 month to take in December. We want a place that is warm enough to spend time outdoors. We keep going back to France and Italy because we are in love with both countries and do well with the language. We fell in love with the Languedoc last year. Where is a charming village that is easy to get to and interesting enough for a relaxing week or so? I know traveling with a toddler is difficult but a baby should be fairly easy. I don't want to wait for 13 years and pretend they won't appreciate it until then.

First off I agree a six month old is pretty easy to travel with.. they aren't crawling on dirty hotel floors yet or screaming to get out of strollers and run in traffic.. lol..

However , December is winter everywhere in Europe.. so you may hit it lucky and get some decent weather.. its never going to be warm.. and it might be cooler and wet.. even in places like southern Spain, France and Italy.. So you have to accept that and either figure on bringing warm clothes and some rain gear.. or find another destination this year..

PS I don't think you have to wait till 13 for Europe with kids.. I do think avoiding ages 1-5 makes sense ( to me.. it did anyways) .. but really before you know it you will be dragging the kids along .. by ages 6 and 7 they really are interested in many sites and more importantly , you do not have to lug a stroller and any baby gear..

Go and enjoy this tiny stage.. your little one will still fit in a snuggli or back pack carrier and those are great for more crowded cobble stoned streets etc.. .. and they don't need any special food or drinks and haven't become picky eaters yet!

One little corner of France has a sunny microclimate in winter: Menton on the French-Italian border, in the 60s and 70s. Languedoc isn't a sunny destination in winter.

Thanks a million! My wife spent a few days in Menton about ten years ago and crossed the border into Dolceacqua for the day to get a proper espresso! That could be a great destination, I've been wanting to check it out. Small and manageable, easy to get to as well.

Had you thought about Greece? Average temps in December is upper 50's. Sicily is a little chillier.
