I would like to share my experiences using Rick's suggestions and finding some of my own. What's the best way to do this?
A lot of people have been posting here...but if you do, post it under North....and/or go to the graffiti wall and post under Share your feedback...
Hi Nancy. I've been to Great Britain many times and have had great luck finding B&B's through Rick's book and in other ways. We will be going again next year, and I'm having a bit of trouble since one of the resources I had used is no longer available. Would love to know your experiences.
Hi Sharon. My husband and I spent the month of July this year driving around England, Scotland and Wales...and needed much more time to do the things we really wanted to do. We basically took the route that Rick describes in his Great Britain guidebook, except we started in Dover where we got off a cruise ship and drove to Somerset where we stayed with friends for a few days. If you can, don't miss the Wells Cathedral which is right near where we stayed. It was our favorite cathedral, and we went to many! Then we drove to Penzance, Cornwall for a couple of days, but wish we'd had longer to spend in the area. From there to Bath, over to the Cotswolds, from there to Wales (Harlech), up to Chester, 2 nights in the Lake District, up to Edinburgh, further up to the Whiskey Trail in the Highlands near Inverness, back to Stirling, down to Durham on the East Coast of England, then to York, Lincoln, Lavenham and back towards London where we stayed with friends outside the city in Bracknell. If you are going to be visiting any of those areas and want tips as to where we stayed/ate/or visited, email me at [email protected] and I'll send you more information.
