Does en suite mean that your sink, toilet and tub/shower are within the same four walls as your bed or is there a partition?
varies. Especially varies by price and country.
I interpret it to mean that it is probably in an attached room. I once heard from someone who found that her "bathroom" was separate from her room, but both doors were in the entry alcove to her room. In over 100 nights in Europe, I have stayed in rooms where the WC and shower were in another, shared room, but never have I had them in the same, unpartitioned room.
I've stayed in B&B's in many countries, some pretty rustic. But I've never stayed in one where the WC was visible from the bed.
I think that en suite in general means that you have a bathroom that is only used by the people in that room. Usually it means that it's only accessible from your room, but not always. I certainly have stayed in rooms in which the sink is in the room. And, there was the room in Inverness that had a shower in the room as well as the sink. You went to hall WC. ; ) Pam
It generally means it has an attached bathroom, like a hotel room.
