Avoid Generali Insurance

When I purchased the policy, the customer service representative gave me false information about how the coverage actually works. Only through the painful process dealing with company, I found out that I was not covered at all while I did pay!!!Basically, the company took my money and then said "good luck" to me. I am getting ready to sue them. Avoid my mistake.
P.S. I did read the policy but the issue was that it was in Slovenian since I purchased it in there. So, I asked for company's interpreter to explain me some details who insured me that everything I wanted was there, which was not true at the end. When I did the claim, I was told different story. But I do have emails from the company confirming what I was told before purchasing. By the way, since Slovenian court system is broken, I need to file a claim to EU level, which works more efficient and more productive.

Get back to us with the results of your suit. Best of luck with that.

It would be helpful if you provided more information so we'd know the facts and could determine for ourselves if your complaint is legitimate. Did you read the policy yourself before buying it?

When you purchased your Generali policy you were sent a copy of what you bought and had an opportunity to read it. Did you read it?
Because you could have changed your mind if you didn’t like the terms and requested a refund during the policy review period.

I am very sorry to hear of your experience and interested in the outcome. Your post caught my attention because I a friend who is the only person I know who actually had to use medical evacuation insturance after she was hit by a truck while crossing a street on a tour, had rave reviews of their response and assisstance.in her case. Policies and situations differ; I wish you luck with your situation.

I bet there was an exclusion that was passed over lightly. And I bet somewhere you signed a statement that started that only the printed copy is accurate and not to rely on a sales person comments. I doubt if suing will be productive but good luck.

welcome to the Forums

I expect that you can't take a case to the EU court (which one?) until you have been through the national courts. Maybe that's different in Slovenia?

You said you read the policy but then needed an interpreter or salesperson?

You absolutely can to go to EU court since transaction was made on EU territory plus Generali is EU company, therefore, under international law, the EU court has jurisdiction over the case. I needed to interpreter since my Slovenian is not fluent and I am entitled as a client to have a language assistance as needed.

Maybe better advice would be not to buy insurance unless you can read the policy? You never depend on the other side to read the contract for you as a general rule.

I expect the 'emails" are worthless as no email will override a signed agreement in any court
