Hi - We will be travelling to Rome in May and are interested in authentic restaurants with excellent food where the clientel is mostly local. Please provide any suggestions. Thank you!
Well we didn't take roll call to see where people hailed from, but the Osteria Margutta has fine Roman food and Italian wines in an attractive setting. Osteria Margutta
A few websites for your research Scott: http://www.parlafood.com/the-2011-rome-dining-guide/ http://www.spottedbylocals.com/rome/category/activity/restaurants-activity/ and my favorite, http://www.revealedrome.com/ Also check out Fred Plotkin's book, Italy for the Gourmet Traveler. Despite the title he has some great inexpensive options. We loved Antica Taverna (lots of locals) and Cul de Sac.
Perilli on Via Marmoratta, Armando near the Pantheon, and Giggoletti near the ruins of Teatro Marcello. All have great Roman dishes with many choices. Enjoy!
Thank you to everyone who replied. We appreciate you taking the time to provide such thoughtful suggestions!!! Happy travels to all.
