I look forward to following some of Rick's audio tours. I am envisioning the practicality, especially the outdoor walks. How do you operate your phone and pay attention to where you're going and what you're looking at? Any issues with pickpockets capitalizing on your attentiveness to your phone or their awareness you're a tourist?

Used them all over Rome with no problems. Earbuds in, phone in my pocket, I could pay attention to everything around me. Didn't need to operate phone controls unless I had to stop it at a light or something similar. I think your fears of pickpockets are over-exaggerated. It's not like they're lurking everywhere, following your every move and waiting to pounce. You'll be fine.
