The article made a good point about how some people rigidly do things a certain way and pay too much, like only buying directly from airlines. I hear this quite often. Many people are resistant to finding great prices, fearing endless what-ifs and (usually in my book, pretty fair) restrictions. And for many with limited budgets, this means they don't get to travel very often. This article again points out that if you really want to see the world, don't mind doing the extra homework, and are willing to give up some freedom for rock bottom deals, you can go places for very little money.

After reading this article I set up new fare alerts on several more sites than I had previously.

So far today's searches haven't found a cheaper flight than I had before. I'll wait a little while and see if I can catch a bargain.
