Nice article, but there are many more worth mentioning. The Bergen line in Norway gets most of the attention and regularly ends up on lists like this. But the other rail lines in Norway are also among the most scenic in Europe, I can especially recommend Oslo-Trondheim, Trondheim-Bodö and Narvik-Kiruna (Sweden).
My wife fancies something like this. She was so looking forward to the Bernina Express while we were on Lake Como. Too cloudy most days, was not worth the risk. The Rockies thing in Canada is so bloody expensive.

They run about a dozen steam and vintage train trips a year. Of course, not much right now so check back when things get better.
