ARRIVAL IN PARIS AT 11:15 PM

We are arriving at Gare deLyon at 11:15 PM. We would like to get to CDG Airport that evening for a flight out the next day. What is the safety level of that station at that time of day and what transportation is available? There are two adults traveling and a 13 year old boy with a red belt in Karate. Thanks for the help!

Well, congratulations to a certain 13 year old boy with a red belt in Karate ;-) Taxi? You could go straight to the front door of your hotel. You could take RER D1 Dir: Orry-la-Ville - Coye and correspond at Gare du Nord to the RER B3 Dir: CDG2-TGV OR RER B5 Dir: Mitry-Claye. I know there's construction b/n CDG Airport and Paris until about June 7 that begins around the time you arrive at Gare de Lyon, though...and you'd need to purchase RER tickets - most, if not all, metro/RER stations don't have ticket booth agents anymore, so you'd need coins to buy your tickets (yuck). RER B is probably better for your airport hotel (if memory serves from many years ago...). I hope someone else has some better info for you! EDIT: Here's a ginormous map of Gare de Lyon, showing the locations of taxi stands. This map comes from Paris By Train.com's page on Gare de Lyon station (the map link came from the very bottom of this page); you may find some of the photos and info helpful...

Taxi will probably be your best bet that time of night. What hotel are you planning to stay? The RER will cost 28.50 and it may not be stopping at CDG at that hour. Construction. There is possibly a bus for the last leg, but for a few more Euros, the taxi will take you right to your hotel.

I've heard of an Air France bus that goes from Gare de Lyon to CDG. Don't have any specifics. Maybe you can check their site, google or check TA.

Thanks for the responses. We would like to go direct to CDG that evening for an early flight. Does anyone know how much the taxi would be for three people? Also, Are we reasonably safe with three people getting from the train to the taxi? Thanks for all your knowledge!

Perfectly safe. This is Paris, not Kansas City. The taxi estimator says 55 Euro.

I don't think safety will be a problem, and if it is you have the Karate Kid to chop your way through any obstacle! If he's awake, that is. ;)

If you take a taxi, be sure to only get in an official taxi that is in a taxi rank. Don't let anyone talk you into anything else.
