Are All the Canadians Enjoying Their Thanksgiving Today?

Wanted to wish all of the Canadian posters here on the forum a wondeful Thanksgiving. Enjoy your day. What kind of yummy things are traditional to serve on Canadian Thanksgiving? Do you do any special activities or is it just a family thing?

As a misplaced Canadian I'll be thankful for a Canuck victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets and for Ryan Kesler and Mason Raymond to get well soon!

Enjoyed a family day trip to the citadel at Bitche, France. Then a non-traditional dinner in the cafeteria at the Cora store in Sarreguemines- think Super Target with a large selection of Alsace wines.

Jo, Thanks for the kind wishes! It will be a quiet Thanksgiving today, as I had the big "traditional" meal last night (Sunday). My Son & his family put on a fantastic meal and I "waddled" home a few hours after dinner. The "yummy things" that are traditional probably vary a bit with each family, according to their traditions. I've always been used to a big Turkey dinner with stuffing, Cranberry sauce and all the trimmings, with Pumpkin Pie for dessert. I was provided with some "leftovers", so that's what I'll be having tonight as well. I believe Thanksgiving is mostly a "family thing" here. Cheers!

We had a family meal yesterday at my mother's, so right now I'm sitting on my deck enjoying the unusually warm weather. Wish I had been sent away with leftovers like Ken was!!

trad foods, and yes, they vary,, but basically, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy , some variation on sweet potatoes or squash, cranberry sauce( i do a great one with pears and port in it, ), brussel sprouts( these are a love them or hate them item for most families,, and no one ever agrees) and of course pumpkin pie. I managed to avoid doing the big dinner this year, ex husband is taking kids to his moms,, but did have whole family over( including my ex) for a Thanksgiving Brunch, did a baked ham,,and I have decided I prefer doing brunches!

Well, I'm not Canadian but the rest of my family here is so I'm just in the midst of doing a traditional dinner. The stuffing is set to go into the turkey, accompanied by gravy and mashed potatoes. Brussel sprouts will be served for dh and myself, the kids much prefer anybuthing but - today it's going to by oven-baked cauliflower for them. Dessert is pumpkin pie - though as the non-Canadian in the house I really do not like it and will have leftover rice pudding instead :-) BTW we started of the long weekend with a trip to the Rocky Mountains and got a gorgeous fall day in Banff - with the last of the golden larches and some first fresh snow.
